With innovative classrooms and modern laboratory design, the Science, Engineering, and Technology Building at Howard Community College is preparing students for in-demand careers or transfer to four-year universities. New England Lab provided quarter sawn Sapele wood veneer casework with epoxy resin work tops. Stone themed quartz work surfaces were provided for the geology classrooms. Painted steel casework was installed in the research laboratories and stainless steel casework was furnished in the greenhouse rooms. Supplied in the engineering lab were modular steel tables with butcher block work bench tops. A modular aluminum frame was suspended from the ceiling and surrounds the motorized gantry crane which is used for experimentation with larger capacity loads. Fume hoods and lab equipment such as ice machines, glassware washers, laminar flow hoods and a dust collection system finished out the teaching space.
