JOB NAME: UMass Boston | University Hall

ARCHITECT: Wilson Architects

CONTRACTOR: Gilbane Building Company

The University of Massachusetts Boston built a new 190,000 sq. ft. building in Dorchester to support their extensive amount of course offerings and growing student population. This facility will house teaching laboratories for fields such as physiological, analytical, physical, organic and inorganic chemistry. New England Lab supplied designer steel casework with maple wood veneer fronts. Student drawers were provided with hasp locks allowing students to use their own padlocks per semester. Designer fume hoods were provided in standard sizes, ADA height and custom widths to fit the needs of the users. Steel strut frames were built into the fixed island benches to support cantilevered counters and sinks. For the photography dark room a vented PVC ADA walk-around sink and phenolic shelves were provided.
