Lead Installer/Foreman (Baltimore, MD)

Role

As a Lead Installer/Foreman, you will be responsible for receiving, preparing, delivering and installing laboratory furniture, cabinets, fume hoods and accessories to customers in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  In this role you will handle schedule coordination, trouble shooting and punch list creation in order to ensure a safe, organized and well managed job site.   This is a full-time, salary position and the typical hours are 6:30am to 3:30 pm, but are dependent on work load and scheduling as communicated by the Regional Operations Manager.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follow New England Lab methods for installing laboratory cabinets, casework, and fume hoods on job sites
  • Provide oversight and leadership to NEL installers and NEL sub-contractors on various job sites including delivery, staging, building of product, supervision of install team, and project completion
  • Reviews installation drawings/job specs to ensure proper information is provided and is accurate
  • Organize and schedule installation crews to meet project schedule
  • Organize and schedule the flow of materials to a jobsite to meet project schedule
  • Attend job site meetings
  • Submit daily reports, time cards, tool box talks, pre-task planning and all other documentation as required for a safe and productive job site
  • Use fork trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely handle,  load and unload material
  • Verify the contents of deliveries against bill of lading and packing slips.  Check and note all damages or missing items
  • Schedule, plan and communicate deliveries and shipments with Project Management and others
  • Read and prepare work orders, packing slips and other paperwork as necessary per delivery, project or inventory needs
  • Load/Unload material at job sites within the Mid-Atlantic Region
  • Perform routine inspection of vehicle and supplies to ensure safety
  • Provide outstanding customer service to clients, project managers, and other subcontractors on the job
  • May be assigned to other job tasks such as performing service calls, assisting in scheduling and other duties as needed.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Construction and/or Carpentry experience required
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others
  • Safe, clean driving record (Employment contingent on clean Background Check)
  • Must be able to bend, lift, and carry 50+ pounds using proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to communicate with customers in a professional and courteous way
  • Dependable and organized

Role

The position of Lab Drafter is responsible for developing floor plans, elevations, sections and details of laboratory casework and furniture systems using AutoCAD 2D software.  You will work closely with estimators to determine customer’s requirements/scope of work and assist/work alongside project managers to ensure accurate drawings.  You will need to check product orders and proactively manage project schedules.   Also assist PM’s with changes and additions to drawings as needed. A Lab Drafter must be able to multi-task, prioritize and work within a fast pace, quick turn-around and deadline oriented environment.  The Lab Drafter plays a key role in each project and helps determine the overall success.  You will provide detail drawings for customer’s approval, fabrication and installation.  As an integral part of each project you are assigned to, you will be responsible for the following:
 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare thorough floor plans, elevations, sections and details of cabinet, countertop and lab furniture system layouts for client approval and fabrication
  • Work with an existing team to coordinate drawings and provide quality design work to client’s specifications
  • Support project managers, estimating and sales department with submittals
  • Interpret architectural specifications and drawings
  • Work with various vendors in determining the correct product to be used on a project
  • Document, organize and maintain project information
  • Follow drafting schedule and adapt to changes promptly
  • Monitor and respond to phone or email messages promptly
  • Ensure project scope is being met in line with the estimated price
  • Effectively communicate product or schedule concerns with other departments
     

Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma or Associates degree required
  • 2+ years of experience using AutoCAD (2007-2010)  to produce detailed shop drawings or architectural drawings.

Role

We are looking for an experienced Machine Operator for our cabinet shop.  Our ideal candidate has experience in an automated shop with any or all of the following: CNC, finish, edge bander.  Candidates must have experience building commercial cabinetry in an automated wood and plastic laminate shop.   This is a full-time, hourly position with standard hours 7am to 3:30pm M-F reporting to the Production Manager.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • General production work, specifically cabinet assembly. 
  • Preparing, organizing and maintaining material, product and tools necessary for assembly. 
  • Learning process, machine set-up and problem solving techniques. 
  • Responsible for setting up work area for sanding and routing wood. 
  • Responsible for reviewing drawings to ensure product, accessories and components are ready for assembly.
  • May need to coordinate with finishing department to ensure smooth process and task completion.
  • Maintaining consistent fast paced work flow to meet project deadlines.
  • Able to check own work to achieve no defects


Requirements

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent, Carpentry preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working with automated machinery and commercial cabinetry desired
  • Experience with 32 mm dowel construction and quality control is necessary.
  • Reliable transportation to/from work is required

  • Ability to lift up to 50+  lbs with proper lifting techniques. 
  • Employment is contingent on a clean background and drug screen

 

The worker will be subject to noise from automated machinery.  This position requires someone to cut, lift, and transport wood and other materials from floor to waist height on a regular basis.  This is a standing position and frequent movement around shop floor is required.  No travel is required for this position.  All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.

Role

The position of Project Estimator is responsible for providing a competitive on time bid, which meets the project scope and our client’s intent.   Document a complete clear scope with a detailed and accurate estimate of product, man hours and O&P.  Responsible for reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications, confirming project scope of work, writing RFIs, performing quantity take-offs, preparing estimate proposals and following up on bids as needed.  Will provide project and job cost turn over packages.  Assist and collaborate with sales and project managers to provide outstanding service.  Responsible for maintaining cost controls via relationships with various vendors. Research and negotiating with potential new vendors will be necessary at times.

  • Responsible for knowledge of product line, applications and industries
  • Analyze drawings and specifications to ensure that the entire scope of work is understood and has been addressed
  • Conduct unit and assembly take-offs from project plans
  • Review architectural specifications and drawings and write timely RFI’s

  • Develop relationships and increase sales with END USERS at each facility in our target markets

  • Learn the key players at each facility from “c” level professionals to the maintenance staff/ facilities.  
  • Oversee the entire sales process from meet and greet through installation for each project
  • Qualify each opportunity by identifying and understanding the scope prior to bidding
  • Work closely with estimating to be sure that all details are covered
  • Develop a scope strategy
  • Travel into the territory and work from the road 80% of the time
  • Attend and work specific trade shows throughout the year
  • Responsible for building and maintaining the data base for that territory
  • Assist in servicing house accounts
  • Responsible for knowledge of product line, applications and industries to provide customer recommendations
  • Create, prepare and deliver sales proposals and presentations as needed
