The state-of-the-art multi-disciplinary building is the newest addition to Wentworth’s campus in Boston, MA. Teaching engineering sciences is one of the main focuses of the facility and New England Lab constructed several unique bench configurations that facilitate active learning. Steel cabinet bodies were fitted with plain-sliced Maple veneer and black epoxy work surfaces. Teaching walls with sliding markerboard fronts contain additional shelving and storage. Glass teaching hoods with narrow posts allow the instructor to view the student’s work. High-performance fume hoods set up against tall windows had glass backs and baffle to allow natural light into the laboratory. Accessories such as stainless steel shelving, biosafety cabinets and laboratory cleaning equipment completed the space.
